The establishment

The history of the place

In 2016, we bought this house, built in the 1930's, whose ground floor housed a newspaper and tobacco shop, and a housing on the upper floors.
First we did some major renovations to realize our restaurant project on the entire ground floor area.
In 2018 we renovated the 2 floors in 3 bedrooms, following the comments of our guests who had difficulty finding rooms in the area.
We called our establishment Le Fil Rouge, as a nod to part of the history of Armentières, known as the Cité de la Toile, which was one of the capitals of the spinning mill at the great textile hours. The names of the rooms have logically followed, with Coton, Velours et Laine, (Cotton, velvet and wool)

The establishment

The entrance door is independent of the restaurant, and works with a digicode, making you completely autonomous for your comings and goings.
You arrive in the lobby where the staircase takes you to the 1st floor, to our first bedroom or directly to the open common room, where you can have breakfast and where you can also settle in to work during the day.
From this room starts the second staircase that serves the 2 bedrooms on the 2nd floor.
Careful, the establishment is not equipped with an elevator and therefore not suitable for people with reduced mobility.

The environment

We're in Armentières, town of 25,000 inhabitants, 15 km from Lille. We are on the square Saint Vaast, the second square of the town, behind the town hall and its clock tower.
The city center is very lively during the day, but quiet at night.
We don't have private parking, but parking is easy to find on the square and in the streets, free from 18 pm to 9 am, Apart from these, free public parking spaces are available nearby.
Be careful, weekly market on the square on friday from 7am, no parking in front of rooms on Thursday nights !
The train station is a 10-minute walk from the property, and reaches Lille train station in less than 15 minutes.
The tourist office is located on Rue de Lille, a 5-minute walk away, and the city center is home to many shops, restaurants, cinema...
